Regal Rexnord Steelworks - Virtual Environment

At the end of 2023, V-Ex became a global marketing partner of Regal Rexnord. As part of our work with them, we were tasked to start work on a series of large-scale virtual environments of industries Regal Rexnord manufacture power transmission equipment for. The first of this series I worked on was for steel production.

This environment needed to include sections for a range of machinery, including a blast furnace, coke plant & ovens, sinter plant, gas silo, mills and rail line. Within some of these sections would be two types of furnace - an electric art furnace & traditional blast furnace, continuous caster, hot mill and bar mill. Due to the scale of the task, not everything asked for was able to be completed in time - initially Regal Rexnord wanted to include a galvanising line, but due to a lack of resources and resulting quote, this aspect of the environment was dropped.

The environment would be explored via a series of still images connected together by animated transitions, with interactive buttons to access further renders of equipment.

The environment was based on Port Talbot in Wales.

The project was completed early summer 2024.
