In early 2023 I was asked to pitch a large exhibition stand design for Ricoh, a manufacturer of printers. The brief was very broad, with Ricoh only noting that they wanted to incorporate Japanese style elements, with a central pagoda area for an LED screen & bar.
I opted to look at traditional Japanese houses for inspiration as the pagoda idea would be problematic due to a limited height allowance. I decided to add a raised walkway around the centre of the stand to offer an elevated view of the printers that would be on display (the grey cuboids), as well as several private meeting rooms with comfy seating in a circular arrangement, with the option of closing sliding doors in a Shoji style.
The pitch wasn't won, hence the design still being in a block out stage, but despite that, it's still a pitch I'm proud of for its unique style.
